Disappointments:

Rex The Dog - The Rex The Dog Show
Rex the Dog: The Rex the Dog Show
What happened here? For a while, in the not-so-distant-past, Rex the Dog was an artist I looked forward to hearing from – the sexy, retro, electronically-infused house was way up on my list of favourite sounds. But since those heady days of ‘05 and ‘06, the Dog has fallen of the communal radar somewhat, with nary a release worth a great deal of mention until this year’s “The Rex the Dog Show”. It was with great expectation (and excitement) that I played this album for the first time. A few tracks in though, I began to feel almost sick to my stomach – what is finally delivered falls incredibly flat, being as it is an incredibly saccharine blend of almost re-hash house beats and annoying pop. Rex even has the cheek to include a remix of Maximize, which as it is would have been the best track on the album.
Stand out track: Maximize 2008
Short-game: A Crying shame.
Score: 2/5.
Also Out Now:
Fabric Live 44: Commix: Mix album from on of FSoC’s members – well worth a go.
Scratch Perverts: Hip Hop Don’t Stop (The Greatest): An oldie, but a goodie. If you like oldskool/golden generation hip hop, this is for you. I personally can’t get enough of it.
